Edit: I have since returned from a brief three-month bout of sulking, but I thought this blog post should remain as a reminder to everyone to do their research when it comes to copyright!
Due to a misunderstanding of copyright law, I’m having to pay a fee for the misuse of an image on Dystopic. I’ve now taken down every image on the website (except those made by me and front covers of books) as I don’t want to take any chances. As a result, Dystopic looks pretty ugly and unfinished right now, but I’m not going to do anything about that just yet.
This has been a massive blow for me – I run this blog alone, with technical support from Carl Doherty – so I’ve decided to take a break from Dystopic. And from writing in my spare time in general.
While I accept this whole situation was my fault, it has left me feeling bitter and hopeless. I’m giving up now so I don’t give up permanently. I need to remember why I started doing all this in the first place.
I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported Dystopic since 2012, and those who have sent me their work to review.
I’ll be back when I’m ready, whenever that will be.
